Vina Robles has a great hospitality center just off highway 46 East where you can taste wine, shop or hang out in their grand courtyard. They make some very good red wines from Paso Robles and from vineyards on the Central Coast. Their Cabernet, Merlot and their Roseum 2007 Huerhuero blend are very good and reasonably priced. The Edna Valley Chardonnay is wonderful. The tasting room is grand with colorful artwork, soaring ceilings, a warm fireplace and a great staff. They include cheese samples as part of the tasting.
If you are traveling through the Paso Robles wine county you should make a visit to one of the oldest winery names in the area. Rotta Winery is tucked back off Highway 46 West on Winery Road between Vineyard Drive and Las Tables Road. It has gone through a recent makeover with a very attractive and cozy tasting room.
The wines here are dry farmed and head pruned which limits their crop but intensifies the fruit with more flavor. Try their Cabernet and their Zinfandel.
